About Gregg Kallor:

Kallor, whom Opera News calls "a rising star in the music world" with "a singular compositional voice," will discuss how Mary Shelley’s 200-year-old novel, Frankenstein, continues to inspire storytellers to breathe fresh life into the tale for their own generation because it speaks to something fundamental about human nature. Frankenstein is a horror story, but not in the way people often think of it; the real horror is the agony of a living being who is callously abandoned by the man who created him. Kallor’s Frankenstein brings to life the living, feeling Creature, who is ultimately forsaken by its creator, Victor Frankenstein, giving poignant voice to The Creature’s struggle and lays bare the horror of alienation and otherness. Experience an evening of learning and reflection from Kallor as he discusses his journey beginning with the original Mary Shelley story of Frankenstein, to the birth of his new opera Frankenstein.
