Intro to Fabric Painting

Description

Join the Marlu Allan and Scott Stallard Costume Shop in our first masterclass of the season: Introduction to Fabric Painting with Resist. In this 3-hour class, Shelby Joiner (Arizona Opera’s Painter/Dyer), will lead you through the process of using resist to create patterns on silk for fill-in hand painting with liquid fabric dye.

Most needed materials are covered in the class fee. Please note this masterclass will be held virtually. Once you secure your spot by purchasing below, you will receive a Zoom link via email 24 hours prior to the event.

Supplies Provided:

• 3 plastic applicator bottles & tips
• 2 oz of water-soluble resist
• 2 oz of metallic non-soluble resist
• 2 oz of black non-soluble resist
• 2 pieces of pre-washed silk
• 1 embroidery hoop
• 2-3 image stencils
• 1 paint brush
• 4 colors of dyna-flow dye (.7 oz each)
• 2 empty .5 oz plastic containers with lids
• 2 plastic pipettes
• 1 pod of fragrance-free laundry detergent

Supplies Needed Not Provided in Kit:

• Iron/hair dryer
• Paper Towels
• Pencil

Additional Notes:
Please choose below if you would like to pick up your kit at the Arizona Opera Center (1636 N. Central Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85004) or have it shipped to you.

Shipping: DEADLINE EXTENDED: Orders must be placed by December 7, 2020 in order to be shipped in time for the masterclass. The cost of shipping has already been calculated in the price below. You will not be charged an additional shipping fee.
Pick Up: Orders must be picked up from the Arizona Opera Center by December 9, 2020.
